The main function of Fax Servers is to accept documents from the user, convert them into faxes and transmit them to the user. Also it has to receive fax calls, which is either stored with it or passed on to the user. So we can say that Fax Servers are set of software tools running on a server computer attached to one or more fax enabled modems which are further connected to telephone lines. The users of the Fax Servers can communicate with the Server hosting the Fax Servers in a number of ways. It can either be through a local area network or Internet. In a big organization where the Fax Servers are having heavy traffic, the computer hosting the Fax Servers itself is called a Fax Server.
